Amenhotep III
Amenhotep III was born in egypt at the new kingdom, 3400 years ago and he was the ninth Pharaoh of this dynasty. During Amenhotep III's reign, which would come to be known as a period of peace and abundance, many structures were constructed that still stand today.

His mother was Mutemwiya and his father was Pharaoh Thutmosis IV, the man with the dream under the sphinx.

After ten years of reign Thutmosis IV died and actually Thutmosis oldest son Amenemhet (?) was the successor to the throne, but he is young deceased and so became Amenhotep III king of egypt.

In his first year of goverment he married Tiy, the daughter of a province official. He continued prudently his building projects in Karnak and led begun work of his father away without damaging at first the buildings of other Pharaohs. At this time egypt had a period of prosperity, because his forerunners created a huge kingdom and the relationship to the other gerat powers (Babylonians, Assyrians, Hittites) were regardful. One reason for the good external relationships were the political weddings. However the first wife Tiy remained one of the powerful persons.

God's world and the rises of Aton

During Amenohotep III's lengthy reign the sun cult about Aton won at influence, this development began already under his grandfather Amenhotep II, but also other Gods belonged to its favourite like Hathor (Goddess of music and love) and Thoth (God of wisdom and writing).

In the process at the 18. Dynasty came it into Egypt increasingly to a rivalry between the priesterhood and the Pharaoh. The wealth and power of the priesterhood were in the meantime nearly as large as the king.

Buldings

Amenhotep III misplaced the seat of the goverment from Memphis to Theben, where he also concentrated his construction activity. Theben applies further as birthplace for the middle kingdom and new kingdom. Everywhere in Egypt establish or reshape Amenophis III. sancturies.

Conflicts

In the fifth year of reign was Amenhotep III occupied with a bigger military conflict against the nubians an theirs allies. Three Steles in Assuan (?) remember at that event.

Successor

After Amenhotep III Akhenaten also known as Amenhotep IV mounted the throne.
